JAMMU, Oct 26: The arrangements for historic Jhiri Mela scheduled to commence from November 12, 2019 were reviewed at a meeting chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Rishapal Singh.
Sub Divisional Magistrate, Marh, Tariq Naik briefed the meeting about the various arrangements & preparations which ought to be put in place well before commencing of the Mela.
The ADC asked different departments to install their stalls to create awareness about different Government schemes like PM-Kisan, Laadli Beti, SMAS, BBBP, Ayushman Bharat and agriculture related activities among the devotees visiting the fair and local people.
He directed the concerned departments to promote social message on rural sanitation to maintain cleanliness in and around the Baba Jitto Ji, Temple Jhiri.
Other arrangements reviewed in the meeting included sanitation, provision of power supply, installation of mask light, Cleanliness of bathing ghats, installation of CCTV cameras, security arrangements, adequate stocks of ration and fire wood, provisions for accommodation of the devotees, deployment of fire tenders at the venue, setting up of stalls by various departments and conduct of various cultural programmes during the fair.
He directed the District Youth Services and Sport Officer, to organise sports event like kabaddi, tug of war, volleyball and motivate youths of the area to participate in the games. He asked the authorities of PWD(R&B) Department to carry out necessary repair/renovation work on roads leading to Jhiri. The meeting was attended by the officers of Police/PHE/PWD/ PDD/Irrigation/Municipal/Rural Development/ Tourism and some other departments.
