Jeera futures gain on strong domestic demand

NEW DELHI, Aug 8: Jeera prices increased by Rs 195 to Rs 19,830 per quintal in futures trade today as participants raised their bets, tracking a firm trend at the spot market due to rising domestic as well as exports demand.
Further, tight stocks position following restricted arrivals from the growing regions fuelled the uptrend.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery this month contract rose by Rs 195, or 1 per cent, to Rs 19,830 per quintal with an open interest of 3,054 lots.
On similar lines, the contract for September was trading higher at Rs 20,190, up by 0.95 per cent, or Rs 190 per quintal with an open interest at 7,050 lots.
Analysts said the rise in jeera prices at futures trade was supported by increased buying by retailers and stockists at the spot markets amid restricted supplies from the producing regions. (PTI)
