JDA retrieves over one kanal prime land encroached at Channi Kamala

JAMMU, May 28: As part of anti encroachment drive, Jammu Development authority retrieved more than one kanal of prime JDA land at Khasra No 124, village Channi Kamala (Mattoo Colony) in Trikuta Nagar, Jammu, wherein a compound wall was raised and the steel gates were installed illegally. The land value is around two crores.
The operation was conducted by the enforcement team led by Director Land Management, Davinder Singh Katoch on the directions of Vice Chairman, Rajesh Kumar Shavan. SSP Jammu, Vivek Gupta, provided full police assistance by deputing a team of police station Channi Himmat led by SHO Sajjid Mir with the anti-encroachment team.
The JDA team was comprised of Chief Khilafwarzi Officer, Narinder Singh, Khilafwarzi officer, Pankaj Singh Samyal, Tehsildar JDA Zone (B), Dir Zeba Suleman, Naib Teshidar JDA, Chand Mohan Singh, Khilafewarzi Inspector, Romesh Kumar, Farid Hussain and Executive Engineer Anil Pandohi.
Before conducting the operation many opportunities were given to the encroacher to remove the encroachment at his own level but he failed to do so. It is learnt that the encroacher is a retired Chief Engineer. The demolition was conducted under public premises (eviction of un-authorized occupants) Act 1988.
It is pertinent to mention that the Government has delegated stringent powers to the officers/officials of JDA to deal with the land mafia and seek police assistance. The powers to get the illegal structures removed through police by deputing police stand also delegated to the Authority. Mr Davinder Singh Katoch has been designated as Estates Officer under the Public Premises Act in addition to the basic powers under the J&K Development Act.
