SRINAGAR, July 18: A soldier today killed his officer by firing six bullets at him in Uri sector along the Line of Control (LoC) in Baramulla district.
Major Shikhar Thapa of 71 Armoured Regiment and attached to 8 Rashtriya Rifles, of the Army unit deployed in Uri was killed by an Army jawan last night when he showered bullets at him.
Sources said that the Army officer pulled up Naik Kathi Resan for using mobile phone while on duty in a sensitive area.
The phone was damaged while being confiscated, which led to an argument after which Resan, who is from 19 Madras, shot the officer with his AK-47 rifle at around 12.15 a.m.
The Army and police are investigating the incident and the Jawan has been arrested.
