Jawan killed in Drass avalanche

JAMMU, Jan 16: A soldier was killed and three others were injured when an avalanche hit an Army post in Drass belt of Ladakh’s Kargil district today.
The avalanche hit the Army post in Mushkoh valley in which four soldiers were buried, they said.

One soldier died while three injured were rescued, they added.
The killes jawan has been identified as Dharmendar Singh.
According to SHO Drass, Manzoor-ul-Hussain, three injured jawans were responding to the treatment.
Meanwhile, yet another avalanche at Prandrass village, has affected residential houses but no one was injured. As per a villager, the area was cut-off from Drass town and has been facing lot of problems.
People in Drass are facing problem due to heavy snowfall on Kargil-Drass road, which is still closed along with all link roads.
There was no electricity for last three days and as per reports, electricity was affected due to avalanches affecting discharge of water to Biaras Hydle project.
