Jawan killed in cylinder blast

KATHUA, Mar 24: An Army jawan was killed and another sustained injuries in a mysterious blast inside an Army unit at Kalibari in this district here this afternoon.
“A jawan was killed and another injured when an explosion took place inside the cooking area of the unit in Kalibari area,” a senior police officer here said.
He said that as of now, there are reports that it was a gas cylinder explosion, adding that the investigation is on.
He said that one jawan had died, identified as Naik Deepen Tawang, 35 while another is under treatment at the Military Hospital, Pathankot.
Kathua Police has registered a case under Section 174 and started investigations.
Police said soon after the incident, the army rushed the duo to Military Hospital (MH) Pathankot for treatment where Naik Deepen Tawang succumbed to his injuries while another jawan identified as Havaldar Lal Parsad Gurang, 39 is under going treatment.
Dead body of the jawan was brought to MI Room of Army Kalibari, Kathua and it is still in the custody of 64 FD Army Regiment.
