RAJOURI, Jan 3: To protest against the arrest of two youth by police in Rajouri yesterday, the people of Jawahar Nagar observed a total bandh today.
The protestors were demanding release of the two youth immediately.
Meanwhile a delegation of prominent citizens of the area led by Sanatan Dharam Sabha president Rajouri, Dinesh Sharma and Bajrangdal president, Sat Paul called on SSP Rajouri, Shahid Mugal and demanded that the youth being innocent be released immediately.
They demanded that the police should arrest other youths also against whom they have already filed the FIR in Police Station Rajouri.
They said that police was deliberately acting in a partisan manner and wanted to know why the action was not taken on the first FIR. However SSP informed them that the law will take its own course and no one will be spared involved in the case. He said police is investigating the matter.
Meanwhile, police has also registered FIR in the yesterday’s stone pelting incident but no arrest was made in this regard so far.
Later the traders and leaders of various social organizations held a meeting at Jawahar Nagar to discuss the situation arising out of yesterday’s police action and decided to continue shutdown in Jawahar Nagar area.
