POONCH, Feb 19: Expressing grave concern over scarce availiability of ration, especially sugar at the CAPD outlets across the District, former MLA and Provincial President Youth National Conference Ajaz Jan asked the Government to shoulder the basic minimum responsibility of governance and solve the problems of people forthwith.
Addressing party workers at Mandi Poonch, Jan said the Public Distribution System (PDS) outlets are almost empty, forcing rationees to wait for weeks together. “Due to snowfall in various areas the supplies have got further impacted adversely”, he said, adding that the ration holders have been deprived of sugar quota for about four months.
“As if it is not enough, the insensitive government is linking PDS distribution with Aadhar with a sizable chunk of population yet to have cards, as the concerned agency has closed its centres due to non-payment of their dues”, he added.
Jan also criticized the Centre for not allotting required quota of LPG and kerosene oil to the State as a result of which the people in far-flung areas are suffering. He said both the Centre and the State Government have failed to mitigating the problems of the people in Jammu and Kashmir.
Earlier, people from different villages of Poonch Mandi met the former MLA and raised issues of their areas related to rations, power, drinking water besides dilapidated condition of roads and failure of the Government in undertaking restoration of damaged utility services due to rains and snowfall.
