JAMMU, Apr 20: Provincial Youth National Conference (NC) President, Jammu, Ajaz Jan has expressed anguish and dismay over police action against the daily rated, casual and need basis workers of the Public Health Engineering Department for their democratic right of presenting a memorandum to Prime Minister, Narendra Modi during his visit to Katra.
“What is the sin of these unfortunate workers, who have been agitating in support of their demands for regularising their services”, Mr Jan said in a statement, adding that the PDP-BJP Government has become intolerant to dissent.
Mr Jan said that all segments of society have a right to peacefully demonstrate and agitate over their concerns in a democratic set up but the current dispensation seems to be naïve about this. “Instead of solving their problems, the PHE workers were subjected to harassment and humiliation”, he regretted.
The YNC president expressed solidarity with the striking workers and said the youth of the State were with them at this hour of crisis. He sought immediate regularising of the workers who have been working for long spell of time.
“Their careers cannot be jeopardized”, he said and hoped that the administration will wake up from its slumber and do justice with them.
