While addressing a press conference, here today, Harsh Dev Singh alleged large scale bias and prejudice against Jammu youth in selections during the last two and a half years. He said that the highly biased nature of selections had shaken the faith of educated youth of the region in the present dispensation as well as in recruitment agencies including PSC and SSB. “The research conducted by the Panthers Party in the respective select lists revealed abysmally low share of Jammu region in the said recruitments as compared to Kashmir which was in the obnoxious average ratio of around 10:90,” he said and cautioned that the regional bias in selections and the harassment of the underemployed had caused a severe embitterment among the youth of Jammu which could explode anytime and prove fatal for the ominous dispensation. “It happened for the first time that a constitutional body like PSC had come under several public criticism for its arbitrary and discriminatory functioning,” he added.
Rebuking the BJP-PDP Govt for misleading the people of Jammu in the name of equitable treatment, Singh said that never before had Jammu region been subjected to such wild and hostile discrimination. “Apart from the PSC, the SSB and other recruiting agencies have also robbed the Jammu youth of their due share in employment while working under the tutelage of PDP with BJP leaders acquiescing in the process,” he said and regretted that when all the 10,000 posts of SPOs sanctioned by GoI were allocated to Kashmir region, the BJP leaders shamelessly stated that it had been done in national interests. Likewise, the selections made in the Deptts of Higher Education, School Education, Health and Medical Education, Accounts and Statistics, PHE, R&B, Power and other Engineering Deptts revealed that the loin’s share went to Kashmir with Jammu made to content with a sort of consolation prizes, he further alleged.
