JAMMU, Mar 31: Jammu and Kashmir BJP secretary, Rekha Mahajan, today said that the Government has directed the Tourism Department to submit specific plan within one month for promotion of 225 tourist destinations, heritage and religious sites and speaks about the concern of the Government towards development of the tourism related spots and destinations in Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory.
In a statement issued here, today she said this will obviously go a long way in bringing the less known or unreached places in prominence, which has the potential to attract tourists in large numbers and serve to promote the local business, boost economy of the area and generate employment.
Rekha Mahajan said that further instructing the Tourism Department to promote 75 off beat trekking routes will attract adventure loving tourists to this Union Territory, which too can be a boon for Jammu and Kashmir in many ways.
“These steps of the Government will result in advantage to Jammu province in particular, as it remained neglected for long despite the fact that this region has great potential of tourism that remained unexplored “, Rekha said and added that there are numerous natural, beautiful and attractive places in many districts of Jammu region and the days are not far when Jammu will emerge as a tourist destination. Crores of people visiting Shri Amarnath and Mata Vaishno Devi will now have more options for long stay here in UT with more newly developed religious sites.
She expressed hope that these new tourist destinations will find place on tourist maps after their development as per the Government plans and contribute in progress and prosperity of many areas as well.
