JAMMU: The Jammu-Srinagar national highway was closed today due to fresh snowfall, police spokesperson here said.
“Due to heavy snowfall at Jawahar Tunnel, Banihal, Patnitop, Kud and other locations along the highway, the road got blocked,” he said.
The spokesperson said that many vehicles, including trucks, commercial taxies and private vehicles, were stuck up on the highway.
“No fresh vehicle is being allowed to move towards Jammu while trucks are stranded at Sidhra, Nagrota, Toll Ban, Udhampur, Ramban, Batote areas,” he said.
Snowfall is continuing due to which road clearance work has not yet started.
Meanwhile, heavy rains also resulted in dip in temperature further by few degrees in the plains of Jammu.
Fresh snowfall was also reported in Bhaderwah, Doda and Kishtwar belts of the region. (AGENCIES)
