Jammu records season’s maximum 41.8 Celsius

JAMMU : Jammu today recorded season’s maximum 41.8 degree Celsius temperature.

“The mercury has started rising in J&K with the winter capital witnessing season’s maximum 41.8 Celsius and minimum 24.4 Celsius,” a MeT official here said.

He said the temperature continuously kept rising for the past 4-5 days and this afternoon it crossed the 40 degree mark.

Earlier on May 1, the maximum was 40.3 Celsius. “There will be no respite in the rising temperature in the coming days ahead and hot weather conditions will prevail,” said an official.

However, the city roads today wore deserted look due to the rising mercury and heat wave.

People were seen covering face and carrying umbrellas to protect themselves from the direct sunlight.

Roadside vendors those selling sugarcane juice, ice candies and lemon water witnessed rush due to heat. (AGENCIES)
