JAMMU, Dec 9: Post abrogation of Article 370, Jammu needs a Craft Bazar located in the heart of Old Jammu City so that artisans can display and market their craftworks, said Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State Executive Member, Raman Suri in a statement here, today.
He said the Bazar must cater to the artisans drawn from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and Manipur to Rajasthan, so that they could display their crafts at one place to give Jammu and Kashmir’s tourism a fillip. India is a country having diverse cultural and geographic features that can be brought to the foreground in Jammu region through Craft Bazar, he added.
Suri said, the urban and rural communities of craftspersons can display their contemporary works in Jammu and also interact with each other. This way, products of Jammu including Basohli paintings, embroidery work, woodworks, wood-crafting, Pashmina Shawls and other craftsworks can be brought into the notice of entire world. The artisans can also get a creative platform and learn new techniques from their counterparts, Suri added.
