Jammu Hotels & Lodges Association meets CM, highlights demands

JAMMU, Jan 27: A deputation of All Jammu Hotels & Lodges Association called on Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and apprised her about the problems being faced by the hoteliers.
The deputation was headed by president Pawan Gupta and comprised of Anil Khajuria, Pritam Sharma, M L Sharma, Sunil Suri, Sankul Gupta, H S Manhas and Amit Gupta.
The Association demanded all industrial benefits under J&K Industrial Policy 1995 to registered hotels and lodges as provided by the Government of India under Macro, Small & Medium Enterprises. It also demanded immediate commissioning of Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP) at Bhagwati Nagar, exemption for old existing hotel and lodges from the operation of SRO 154 TSM of 2016 dated 24-03-2016 and amendment in the guidelines for the registration and renewal of the hotels under the single window system accordingly.
Maintaining that it is a registered body since nineties with membership of more than 200, the Association demanded to allot two kanals piece of land on lease hold basis for the establishment of its office for the promotion of tourism in the State.
In view of the financial setback to the hotel industry due to extension of rail link to Katra and regular turmoil in the Valley, the Association demanded measures to be adopted to make Jammu a tourist attraction and wide publicity of the same.
The Association also demanded commissioning of Hari Singh Park at the earliest, completion of the phase one of the beautification and consolidation of Tawi river banks on the pattern of Sabarmati which will interallia complete the artificial lake project, promotion of border tourism and promotion of Suchetgarh on the Wagha pattern and early completion of Wild Life Zoo and National Park at Manda Nagrota.
As Association also demanded upgradation of Shri Raghunath Ji temple at par with Golden Temple Amrtisar, the CM expressed her enthusiasm to take up this project and immediately issued instruction to call a meeting with Dharmarth Trust in this concern. Besides, the projects of Mubarak Mandi Heritage Complex, development of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra base camp at Bhagwati Nagar and development of Wet Lands at Mansar, Suriasar & migratory birds resort at Gharana also came up during discussion. The Chief Minister gave patient hearing to the deputation and assured positive action.
