NAGROTA, Apr 1: National Conference Provincial President Devender Singh Rana today said the proposed Jammu Declaration is catching the attention of wide-spectrum of people from all walks of life with intelligentsia offering valuable suggestions for broad-basing its scope for good of the Jammu region and thereby the state of J&K and the great nation of India.
“The idea propounded does not represent or grant exclusivity or least give me the ownership as it has to be peoples narrative emerging out of broader consensus”, Mr Rana said during his interaction with a cross section of the society, adding that it is purely an individual effort and entirely apolitical.
He expressed satisfaction over the proposal being received well by the people at large and thereby encouraged him to carry forward the mission, at a time Jammu and Kashmir is at the crossroads of history and churning of a thought process evolving.
Rana said he has written to a cross section of people and intellectuals about the Jammu Declaration, emanating from Jammu, a most pluralistic region of the state that can play a very crucial role in the prevailing circumstances and be the pivot change.
“I believed the proposed Jammu Declaration must emerge out of Jammu, to be a narrative of Jammu by Jammu and for the entire State of Jammu and Kashmir which represents the aspirations of the people of the State across regions, sub-regions, religions and ethnicities”, he said adding that it must also come out with a roadmap to bridge fault lines that exist through a process of inter region, intra-regional, inter religion, intra religion dialogue to set the pace for a resurgent J&K and its restoration to pristine glory.
He hoped that since the effort is bereft of politics all those from Jammu who represent different political ideologies will rise above politics and work together to cast Jammu Declaration.
“I am overwhelmed by the massive response of the people at large”, he said, exuding the confidence that the idea will sprout as an agenda from Jammu for a united and inclusive Jammu and Kashmir.
“This will be our humble contribution towards strengthening the idea of India, our great nation”, Rana added.
Earlier, Rana had exhaustive interaction with the people at Village Thangar in Panchayat Marh in Nagrota.
Besides, DDC-Dansal Councillor Shamim Begum and BDC Nagrota, Ch Rehmat Ali prominent among those present on the occasion included Ashok Kumar, Mohd Mushtaq, Mohd Yonus, Puran Chand, Noor Ali and others.
