Jammu Cong leaders support protest on AIIMS issue

JAMMU, June 4:  Senior Congress leaders from Jammu today took stock of the situation over the issue of AIIMS for Jammu, Artificial Lake Project and neglect of farmers in Jammu region, who have been denied any relief for the heavy losses suffered by them.
In a meeting of the Congress leaders held today under the chairmanship of  PCC senior vice president Sham Lal Sharma, the  members criticized the attitude of the Centre and State Governments over the issue. The meeting decided to fully support the proposed torch light protest by AIIMS Coordination Committee and join the protest march in order to intensify the agitation as announced by the Coordination Committee.
The meeting lashed out at the Centre and State Government over its anti- farmer policies and accused it of being insensitive to the plight of farmers who suffered immense loss in the incessant rains and flood but the Government is adding insult to their injuries by offering peanuts to them.
The meeting was attended by senior functionaries of PCC  Raman Bhalla,  Kanta Bhan (vice presidents PCC); Ravinder Sharma- chief spokesman PCC; Th Balwan Singh, Yogesh Sawhney, Ch  Shah Mohammad, Vikram Malhotra, Th  Manmohan Singh,  Manjit Singh, Namrata Sharma (all PCC general secretaries),  Maheshwar Singh, Anil Chopra, Neeraj Gupta and Thomas Khokhar.
