Jal Shakti workers stage protest; demand regularization of jobs, pending wages

UDHAMPUR, Oct 30: The employees and workers of Jal Shakti (PHE) Department held a strong protest demonstration at PHE Complex, here today, demanding release of their pending wages and regularization.
A large number of daily wagers of Jal Shakti Department from Ramnagar, Kulwanta, Basantgarh, Khagote, Mansar, Khoon, Manwal, Majalta, Chenani, Pancheri, Damnote, Shudmahadev, Jib Thathi and Patnitop area of district Udhampur led by its president and NPP Trade Union vice president for J&K UT, Som Nath assembled at PHE Complex Udhampur, under the banner of Jal Shakti Employees & Workers Association and launched protest demonstration. They strongly condemned the attitude of present J&K UT Administration for not addressing issues of employees and temporary workers.
While addressing employees and workers, Som Nath alleged that despite representations to senior officers, bureaucrats and the Advisors, the authorities failed to clear the wages of the workers, who are performing their duties at their respective water stations. He said during the strike by workers on 11-11-2020, the LG agreed to solve the pending issues like regularization policy and pending wages but till date not a single demand has been settled. He hoped that LG would honour his commitment.
Som Nath further demanded regularization of DW/CP/ITI and Land case workers, removal of shortage of staff at water stations and other PHE offices, clearing pending SRO-43 cases, conducting DPC at Divisional and Provincial level, implementation of Minimum Wages Act, changing designation of the employees as per their nature of work and clearing wages of more than 600 workers engaged 15 years ago in PHE Department.
Senior members Vijay Kumar, Suraj Parkash, Dinesh Kesar, Makhan Chand, Jagdish Magotra, Karan Singh, Amit Dubey, Parth Singh, Krishan Chand and others also spoke on the occasion.
