JAMMU, Nov 29: Terming unregularised workers, including daily wagers of Jal Shakti Department as victims of failure policies of Government in Jammu and Kashmir, Aam Aadmi Party State spokesperson Pratap Jamwal said that no salary since years and an agitation from last one hundred and sixty days shows insensitive approach of Government setup.
Talking to media persons, here today, Pratap Jamwal said that Jal Shakti Department is of essential services category as it has mandate to provide water to people and with no fresh recruitment of regular employees and retirement of already recruited ones, the burden of department is now on shoulders of daily wagers, casual laborers, need base workers and land case workers who are backbone of the department but being denied even wages.
“These workers are on protest dharna from last one hundred and sixty days and all commitments made by Government so far have fallen flat,” he said while endorsing their demand for regularisation, release of wages which are pending in case of some employees from last sixty months.
Jamwal said that Aam Aadmi Party always supported the cause of these poor workers who strive hard to maintain a balance between their duties of essential nature and poor wages paid by Government. He asked Jammu and Kashmir Government to come out of its slumber and give some respite to these poor workers.
” Workers like them serving in all Government departments are on roads with similar demands but Jammu and Kashmir Government and high -headed bureaucratic setup is looking the other way putting workers in a situation of distress.” he further said.
Jamwal said that no other political party except Aam Aadmi Party speaks for these poor workers being cornered by Government and are left to struggle.
