JAMMU, July 16: Jagti camp inmates protested today against the water scarcity and power crisis.
The demonstration was led by Shadi Lal Pandita president Jagti Tenement Committee (JTC) and the protestors said that camp inmates were facing water scarcity for last 15 days.
The protestors said that the present water supply scheme has become defunct and the authorities have failed to make alternative arrangements by digging tube well in the camp to augment the water supply.
They said despite the repeated pleas by the camp inmates the authorities were adopting delaying tactics with the result the camp inmates are facing hardships.
It said the water reservoir was constructed in river Tawi and it remains defunct almost during rainy seasons. The authorities have failed to make alternative arrangements during this period which has been a cause of worry to camp inmates. The JTC warned that in case the water supply does not improve the camp inmates will be forced to block National Highway.
Meanwhile JCC leader Vijay Kaul said that the camp inmates have lost all patience as they face both water scarcity and power crisis and the authorities except false promises have done nothing to mitigate the sufferings of the people in the camp which would force them to come to streets. He alleged that authorities have also failed to provide fans from block 1 to 29 despites repeated pleas.
