JAMMU, Oct 8: A book of collection of two full-length Dogri plays ‘Dangar’ by Jagdeep Dubey was released today in a function, organized by Dogri Sanstha Jammu.
Darshan Darshi, convener of Dogri Advisory Board in Sahitya Akademi, presided over the function. Abhishek Bharati, a young and gifted theatre activist and talented scholar read a paper on the released book. A large gathering comprising theatre, radio and television artists, writers and people connected with art and culture attended the function.
This is Jagdeep Dubey’s overall 4th book and second collection of Dogri plays that has been published.
In his presidential address, Darshan Darshi, also said that Dubey’s book and his earlier collection of plays are a significant and special contribution to Dogri literature, in the sense that these are successful attempts to fulfill the long felt need of original Dogri stage-plays.
Earlier, while welcoming the audience, Prof Lalit Magotra, president of Dogri Sanstha, stressed on the merit of the released book. He said that the most outstanding feature of Dubey’s works is originality of themes and the treatment.
Abhishek Bharati, in his paper, analyzed both the plays of the collection. He discussed the stage-worthiness of the published plays. Being a director himself, Bharati said that the plays provide ample scope to a director to improvise and interpret the plays according to his/her genius, which is a great strength of the plays.
Dubey also read out some portions of his plays to the audience to give them a flavour of the quality of his works.
The program was conducted and anchored by Dr Nirmal Vinod, general secretary of Dogri Sanstha. Dr Chanchal Bhasin, secretary of Dogri Sanstha presented the vote of thanks.
