REASI, Apr 15: India Youth Congress president, Uday Bhanu Chib today slammed J&K Government over smart meters and not implementing Old Pension Scheme for the employees in the Jammu and Kashmir.
He also strongly criticized the Union Government led by BJP for compromising India’s interests in the Trade-deal with the United States of America.
Chib was addressing a massive Youth Convention under the “Roll Back US Trade Deal” campaign at Reasi, witnessing enthusiastic participation from Jammu & Kashmir Youth Congress workers.
He strongly sought rollback on the US Trade- deal, opposed the Katra Ropeway Project, lifting of restrictions on the Shiv Khori Yatra, ensuring priority employment for local youth in Reasi district’s development projects.
IYC chief also strongly raised the concerns over smart meters, discontinuation of the Old Pension Scheme in J&K and delay in its implementation as promised during polls, and strongly demanded the restoration of statehood to Jammu & Kashmir.
Chib strongly criticized the Centre over the controversial US Trade- deal, stating that concerns raised by the Youth Congress reflect the growing frustration among the youth, farmers, and small business communities. He highlighted that recent protests by the Indian Youth Congress were driven by genuine public anger over policies that appear to favor foreign interests at the cost of domestic priorities. He said the agreement does not serve the interests of India’s farmers, youth, and small industries, but instead benefits foreign corporations.
He strongly opposed the Katra Ropeway Project, stating that development should not come at the cost of local livelihoods and environmental balance. He pointed out that thousands of families dependent on traditional pilgrimage routes and local tourism could be adversely affected. He also raised concerns over restrictions on the Shivkhori Yatra, calling them unnecessary and harmful to both religious sentiments and the local economy.
Chib sharply criticized the J&K Government for failing to fulfill its promise of rolling back smart meters, stating that people were assured relief but continue to face increased financial burden.
Senior leaders Raman Bhalla, Ch Lal Singh, Jugal Kishore Sharma, Mumtaz Khan, Maan Singh Rathore, Ajay Slaliya, Bhupendra Jamwal, Rajesh Sadhotra, Rakesh Wazir, Bhanu Pratap Singh and others also joined the convention.
