JAMMU, Nov 28: The first anniversary of  ‘Operation Kathar’, in which a major infiltration attempt was thwarted due to alert locals (Jagruk Hindustanis) of the area informing security forces, was observed here today.
In this connection an event was organised jointly by locals, army and police at Kathar village near Arnia ( RS Pura sector) commemorating the supreme sacrifice made by the three army personnel  and five villagers.  The unprecedented act of terrorism was executed in the border village of  Kathar near Arnia, when the armed terrorists sneaked into this side from across the border and unleashed violence ion innocent people.
One year after the incident, 92 Infantry Brigade under the aegis of Tiger Division, commemorated the fateful day and paid homage to the martyrs whose presence of mind led to early  detection of terrorists and prompt sharing of information resulting in early launch of operation and elimination of terrorists.
Besides Brig Yashpal Singh, Commander of 92 Brigade,  the event was attended by a large number of military  and civil dignitaries including police officials and Sarpanchs of nearby villages. The children of the nearly schools also paid their tributes to the martyrs.
The families of the martyrs  were honoured on this occasion by the Brigade Commander. Brig Singh and several other local leaders also spoke on the occasion.
