Issues between workers, AFCONS resolved

UDHAMPUR, July 10: The efforts of Police and Civil Administration today resulted in resolution of almost all the contentious issues between the workers and AFCONS company with the former calling off their strike and resuming routine work.
SP Benam Tosh and ACR, who is holding the charge of Addl DC Udhampur Sukhdev Singh Sambyal along with DySP Suram Singh and SHO Mohd Sadiq made all possible efforts and finally succeeded in pacifying both the parties.
While most of the petty issues were resolved on the spot, the company has promised to take up certain demands with the headquarters in writing for approval.
The workers of AFCONS went on strike four days ago after submitting a charter of demands to the company authorities thereby bringing the work to a complete halt at all the places.
The demands put forth by the workers included equal pay for equal work, lunch for all, better mess and bathroom/toilet facilities, provision of conveyance up to home and vice-versa, increments, medical and risk allowances, HRA, DA, timely disbursement of salary by the contractors, double over time allowance by contractors, National/festival holidays, no commission to the contractors from the salary of workers, better living conditions, fans, coolers and above all respectful behavior from company authorities ensuring dignity of workers.
