Irate people block NH against power, water crisis

SAMBA, June 5: The irate residents of Telli Basti, Bari Brahmna Including men and women held a protest demonstration at Bari Brahmna against the unscheduled power cuts and blocked the Jammu -Pathankot National Highway.
The protestors raising slogans against the Government and PDD for imposing the unscheduled power cuts said that power cuts have added to their problems in this scorching heat. They alleged that the water supply has been also affected due to unscheduled power cuts. The infirm, old people and children are worst affected due to power curtailment.
The protesters demanded installation of 400 kv capacity transformer in the particular area of Telli Basti, Bari Brahmna, otherwise they will continue blockade of the NH. Some Police officials of Bari Brahmna Police Station reached the spot and gave assurance to the protesters. Later a delegation visited the PDD office and met the AEE.  He gave assurance that after checking the load of the area of Telli Basti the department will install 400 KV capacity transformer. On this assurance protestors dispersed and National Highway was reopened for traffic.
Meanwhile, residents of Ward Number 7 and 9 Samba also blocked Jammu Pathankot National at Budhwani for 50- minutes this evening against the water scarcity.
The protesters including men, women and children raised anti-Government and anti-PHE Department slogans and warned to launch agitation in case the problem was not solved. They alleged that despite repeated pleas to the authorities they failed to solve the problem.
