IOC’s Bongaigaon Refinery gets National Energy Conservation Award

JAMMU, Dec 18: Indian Oil’s Bongaigaon Refinery has been conferred the prestigious National Energy Conservation Award, the first prize amongst the refinery sector of country.
Pranab Mukherjee, President, presented the award to Director (Refineries), RK Ghosh in presence of Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) of Power, Jyotiraditya Madhavrao Scindia at New Delhi.
RS Butola, Chairman, IOCL, A Saran, Executive Director, Bongaigaon Refinery  and RK Jha CTSM, Bongaigaon Refinery were also present during the award ceremony.
Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) coordinates all activities pertaining to the award under the aegis of Ministry of Power, Government of India. The awards are presented in recognition of the demonstrated commitment towards Energy Conservation and Efficiency and raising awareness about energy conservation opportunities that can enhance productivity.
A total of 31 industries covering various sectors and sub-sectors (including Aluminum, Oil Refineries, Food, Fertilizer, Textile, Automobile, etc.) and establishments in the general category vis-a-vis Railways, Aviation, Hotels, Hospitals, Municipalities, etc are eligible for participation for this award.
An inter-ministerial Energy Conservation Awards Committee under the chairmanship of Secretary (Power) finalized the award winners for the current year, based on the recommendations of a Technical Sub-Committee set up for this purpose.
