JAMMU, Dec 18: Health and Sanitation Wing (HSW) of Jammu Municipal Corporation today seized four kilograms of banned polythene bags from various shops in the city outskirts and booked six persons under COTP Act 2003.
A team of HSW under the supervision of Health Officer, Dr Mohd Saleem Khan, inspected various shops of Gangyal, Kunjwani, Railway Road and other parts of Jammu City to monitor the implementation of ban imposed on polythene carry bags. During the process the team seized 4 Kg polythene bags and realized fine of Rs 8500 from 42 defaulters.
During the round, 6 persons, found smoking at public places, were booked under COTP Act 2003 and a fine of Rs 700 realized from them under Section 4, 6(a), & 5 of COTP Act 2003.
