JAMMU, May 15: Investiture ceremony of Rangers and Rovers was held at the Law School, University of Jammu today, wherein Vice-Chancellor Prof R D Sharma was the chief guest.
This was for the first time in the history of the university that an initiative was taken to start a chapter of the Guides and Scouts movement in the campus.
Vice-Chancellor, in his address, said that the universities have a much bigger role towards personality development and over all conduct of the students and such initiatives like Rovers and Rangers can go a long way in this direction.
Prof Renu Nanda, Commissioner for Rangers and Rovers, Jammu Region and Rajneesh Khajuria coordinated and initiated the process of installation of Rovers and Rangers chapter in the Law School JU.
Nasreen Khan, State Chief Commissioner Guides and I D Soni, State Chief Commissioner Bharat Scouts along with Usha Chuni, Training Guides and Sehaj Singh State Training Commissioner Scouts and other officials inducted the students of the Law School as Rovers and Rangers.
ID Soni, in his address, highlighted the purpose of investiture ceremony as an important tool towards overall development of the students. He emphasized that such initiatives go a long way in infusing the values like self discipline, self conduct and scientific temperament, love and respect for ancient values among the youth.
Earlier, Dr Sanjay Gupta, Director of the JU Law School, presented formal welcome address.
Dr Monica Narang presented the formal vote of thanks and Rajneesh Khajuria conducted the proceedings. Among others, Prof Pankaj Srivastav, Dean Students Welfare, Jai Kumar Sharma, Special Secretary to VC and PRO Vinay Thusu were also present on the occasion.
