JAMMU, July 11: The BSF today foiled infiltration attempt by four armed militants along the International Border (IB) in Hiranagar sector in Kathua district. This was the second intrusion bid thwarted on the IB during past three days.
Official sources said the alert BSF jawans observed movement of four militants, equipped with weapons, sitting on Pakistan side opposite Hiranagar sector in Kathua district, at 2 am today.
“The BSF waited for the militants to come inside the Indian territory to eliminate them. However, the militants finding the BSF jawans on high alert, retreated to Pakistan after waiting for about an hour,” they said.
The infiltration attempt by the militants was, thus, foiled by the alert BSF jawans, sources said, adding that a similar intrusion bid was thwarted by the BSF in Ramgarh sector in the wee hours of July 9. In Ramgarh, the BSF had to fire two rounds to force the militants to flee back.
