BHADERWAH, Apr 18: After remaining close for commuters for more than three months, the Bhaderwah-Chamba interstate road, linking J&K with Himachal Pradesh, was reopened today for vehicular traffic following intensive snow clearance operations by the concerned authorities.
While speaking on the occasion, ADC Bhaderwah, Sunil Kumar Bhutyal said the interstate road is reopened for all kinds of vehicular traffic but commuters should follow some advisories as the traffic will not be allowed from 6 pm to 6 am beyond Thanhala check post from J&K side and Khundi Maral check post from Chamba side.
“This road link is of strategic importance as it connects J&K with HP and serves as a major source of economic development of the area as large number of tourists from Dalhousie and Khajjair visit Bhaderwah using this road,” he maintained.
Locals especially those associated with the tourism industry said the restoration of traffic on the interstate road will open new avenues for tourism.
“Tourism is the lifeline of the economy of this area and Bhaderwah-Chamba interstate road servers as a catalyst to give boost to tourism industry,” said Rashid Choudhary, Tourism strategist from Bhaderwah.
