KATRA, Nov 10: A three- day long Virtual International Tribology Research Symposium on the theme “Impact of Tribology on Society” was successfully conducted at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU).
The event was jointly organized by School of Mechanical Engineering SMVD University, Centre for Advanced Studies, Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow and SRM University Chennai.
As per the report presented in the valedictory function, a total of 7 keynote lectures and 21 invited talks were delivered by eminent international speakers. Further, in the 21 parallel sessions, a total of around 150 papers were presented. The event saw participation from countries such as USA, Mexico, Japan, UK, Italy, France, Malaysia, Hungary, Indonesia, and Saudi Arabia etc, besides participants from India.
The event also hosted an Industrial Meet wherein the sponsors such as DUCOM Industries, Apar Industries, Shreenath Engineering Industries, CAD MECH, BHEL, KISTLER, etc also showcased their technologies to the global audience.
Prof Manish Gaur (Director CAS-AKTU Lucknow), the chief guest at valedictory function, lauded the efforts put in by the three premier universities of the country, particularly the organizing committee members. Prof Manish also asserted that collaborative research is the future and asserted that more such collaborative events should be organized in near future for the benefit of the young research community.

Pertinently, the event was featured by the eminent Global Tribology Societies such as World Tribology Council, Tribology Society of India, Malaysian Tribology Society, Japanese Society of Tribology, UK Tribology Society, International Tribology Council and German Tribology Society.
