JAMMU, Mar 28: A team of international experts, including, Dr Marc Dickinson of University of York, United Kingdom and Dr A M Jukar of Smithsonian Institution ,Washington D C , USA visited the Wadia Museum of Geology, GGM Science College, here today.
The experts studied the fossil collection of the Museum and lauded the College for its rich collection of wide variety of vertebrate fossils.
Dr Dickinson took samples of some fossils for their dating by employing enamel animo acid racemization dating method, a new dating technique. Once the dating is completed , the age of the fossils will be properly established. Dr Jukar, an expert of National Museum of natural history, Smithsonian Institution suggested methods for preservation of rich heritage of museum.
Later on both the experts delivered extension lectures to the students of the College. The students expressed their gratitude to Principal of the College, Prof. S P Sarswat for giving them an opportunity to get exposure at international level. Prof G M Bhat, former head of the PG Department of Geology University of Jammu was the chief guest on the occasion.
