International conference concludes at IIM Sirmaur

SIRMAUR, Mar 8: The two- day international conference at IIM Sirmaur concluded today with a grand valedictory ceremony.
The conference was themed at “Business interventions for effective management of technology and innovation”. Prof Pragya Bhawsar, Conference Convener presented the conference report. The conference witnessed participation and presentations from more than 110 research submissions. Best paper awards and prizes were also distributed during the valedictory ceremony.
The first prize was jointly won by Rekha A G (Researcher from State Bank of India) and Resmi A G. The second prize went to Padmanav Adhikari and Prof Kirankumar S Momaya (lIT Bombay). The best paper awards also attracted prize money of Rs 10,000 and Rs 7000 respectively for the first and the second prize.
The valedictory address was given by Satyakki Bhattacharjee, Managing Partner, Ex- CXO (L&D) ABP News. He emphasized that technology was changing continuously and so was the change happening in business landscape. He opined that there could not have been a better theme of an international conference for a five-year-old institute like IIM Sirmaur.
In her closing remarks, Professor Neelu Rohmetra, Director IIM Sirmaur, explained how life of a researcher becomes a lost entity during investigating and finding answer to his/her research questions. She thanked Mr Satyakki for his enriching valedictory address and also thanked conference convener and co-conveners. She congratulated all the participants for successfully making into the conference.
Earlier on the day, the conference began with parallel technical sessions under various tracks. In the afternoon, Prof Rajen K Gupta Adjunct Faculty IIM Sirmaur, gave an expert talk on “How is exciting, creative and useful research possible”. He shared his experience of journey between academia and industry.
This was followed by special talk by Dr Sivakumar Venkataramany, Professor of International Business at College of Business and Economics Ashland University, USA, on the topic “Strategic Analysis of Economic Scenarios”. He shared his experience of visiting various economies, especially BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa). He explained variety of challenges associated with ease of doing business across various countries. According to him, one of the alarming trend which is common across developed countries is high life expectancy. He concluded his talk by saying that countries like India can only become competitive if they overcome challenges like corruption and poverty.
