JAMMU, Nov 27: The sleuths of Special Operation Group (SOG) Jammu and Nagrota Police Station arrested inter-state drug peddler along with 6 quintals of poppy straw.
As per police sources, on reliable information, the sleuths of SOG Jammu and Nagrota Police Station laid a naka near Ban Toll Plaza and signaled a truck bearing registration number JK03B-9258 to stop for checking.
On seeing police cops, the driver accelerated the vehicle and escaped from the spot. Stinking something fishy, the cops intercepted the truck after a brief chase.
During checking, police recovered 6 quintals of poppy straw concealed in apple boxes and arrested the accused driver.
The accused has been identified as Victor Massih, son of Daniel Massih, a resident of District Ludhiana, Punjab.
During preliminary questioning, the accused disclosed that he was smuggling the consignment from Kashmir to Punjab to make illegitimate profits.
A case under FIR Number 300/18 under section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at Nagrota Police Station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Nagrota Inspector Deepak Pathania and assisted by SI Sadiq Hussain and SI Mohammad Ashraf made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Mohan Lal Sharma, SP Rural Jammu Dushyant Sharma, SP Operation Sandeep Mehta and Incharge DIG JKS Range/SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta.
