*7 theft cases solved

JAMMU, June 2: Channi Himmat police busted inter-state burglars racket with the arrest of four persons including kingpin and recovered stolen items worth Rs 20 lakh from their possession. With the busting of burglars gang and recovered of stolen items, 7 cases of theft were solved.
This was stated by SSP Jammu Uttam Chand during a press conference here today at Channi Himmat police station.
Giving details, SSP stated that on May 29, Kulbhushan Kumar, son of Purja Dass Khana, a resident of Sector 1-A, Channi Himmat lodged a complaint with police station Channi Himmat regarding theft of gold and diamond jewellery from his house.
Acting on the complaint, a case under FIR number 52/15 under Section 454 and 380 RPC was registered and investigation started.
He said that during the course of investigation, police team nabbed two notorious burglars identified as Hari Parshad, son of Mohan and Raj Kumar Kuttay, son of Kanhi Lal, both residents of Chattisgarh.
SSP added that during sustained interrogation, the duo disclosed the names of their two associates identified as Basant Kumar (kingpin of the gang), son of Jai Krishan of Chattisgarh and Noor Mohammad, son of Mohammad Salem of Meerut.
He said that all the four burglars were nabbed, adding that on their disclosure police recovered gold bangles one pair weighing 6 tolas, diamond set valuing Rs 9 lakh, mangal sutra weighing 2 tolas, 4 silver glasses, 12 silver bowls, gold biscuit weighting 5 tolas, gold locket with chain weighing 2 tolas, 3 gold rngs weighting 2 tolas, 3 pair gold ear ring weighing 2 tolas, one diamond bangle, gold chain with locket weighing one tolas, gold locket weighing 2 tolas, one camera, one radio, one calculator, one shampoo bottle, 9 silver coins, one body shampoo, face wash and ladies watch. “The total amount of the recovered stolen items is Rs 20 lakh”, SSP added.
“The modus operandi of the gang was that they keep a watch on the locked house in different areas and commit the burglaries. Later, kingpin of the gang namely Basant Kumar use to sale the gold ornaments in Meerut and Delhi”, Mr Chand informed.
SSP stated that with the busting of burglars gang, six cases registered under FIR Numbers 29/15, 37/15, 51/14, 52/14, 60/14 and 30/15 which had taken place in Sub-Division East were solved by the Channi Himmat police.
Further questioning of the accused is going on, he said, adding that more arrests and recoveries are likely to be made in near future.
Police team led by SHO Channi Himamt police station Inspector Aejaz Wani and Incharge police post Sainik Colony SI Susheel Choudhary busted the racket under the supervision of SDPO East Mohammad Rafiq Manhas, SP South Uday Bhaskar Billa and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
