Inter-District TT, Yoga competitions get underway

JAMMU, Sept 18: The Divisional Level Inter-District Tournament in the disciplines of Table Tennis Under-19 boys and girls and Yoga boys and girls, all age groups got underway at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here today.
The competitions are being organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports under the patronage of its Director General Navin Aggarwal and under the overall supervision of Ved Parkash, Deputy Director, Jammu.
Earlier, in table tennis Under-19 boys, Poonch defeated Kathua by (3-0). Gurjeet Singh of Poonch beat Anish of Kathua by (11-4, 11-3), Piyush of Poonch drubbed Aman of Kathua by (11-1, 11-7) and Nishant Sharma of Poonch got better of Karan of Kathua by (11-8, 11-4).
In table tennis Under-19 girls, Udhampur defeated Jammu by (3-1). Purvi Sharma of Udhampur outplayed Monika of Jammu by (11-4, 11-6), Sukriti of  Jammu prevailed over Somya of Udhampur by (11-6, 11-4), Sonia Sharma of Udhampur drubbed Komal of Jammu by (11-8, 11-7) and Purvi Sharma of Udhampur thrashed Sukriti of Jammu by (11-3, 11-4).
Meanwhile, during the yoga competitions, the selected players included Simran Bhat of Jammu, Kajal Sharma of Jammu, Anushika Koul of Jammu, Palvi Sharma of Jammu and Tina Sani of Jammu (all U-14 girls), Lachpat Raj of Udhampur, Arun Singh of Jammu, Rahul Sharma of Udhampur, Ayush Attri of Udhampur and Sumit of Jammu (all U-14 boys), Muskan Sani of Jammu (Artistic), Raghav Jamwal of Jammu (Rhythmic), Aashvi Mahajan of Jammu (Rhythmic), Akanksha Bhat of Jammu, Pallavi Kumari of Jammu, Sapna Gupta of Jammu, Neeru of Jammu and Taniya Singh of Jammu (all U-19 girls).
