JAMMU, Feb 19: Bahu Fort police arrested an inter-district narcotic smuggler from Narwal area along with around one kilogram charas.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Bahu Fort police station laid a surprise naka at Narwal and asked a pedestrian to stop as he was moving under suspicious circumstances.
On seeing police cops, the person escaped from the spot. Stinking something fishy, the cops chased and intercepted the person.
During checking, police recovered around one kilogram charas from the possession of the man and arrested him.
The accused has been identified as Des Raj, son of Om Parkash, a resident of Pogal Paristan, District Ramban.
He had brought the consignment of narcotics from his native place to sale it among the youth in Narwal and adjoining areas, but got landed in police net.
A case under FIR Number 40/16 under Section 8/20 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against the accused at Bahu Fort police station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Bahu Fort police station Inspector Kuldeep Khajuria and Incharge Narwal police post made the arrest under the supervision SDPO East Chandan Kohli, SP South Shaazad Salaria and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
