JAMMU, Jan 21: Gangyal police under ‘Operation Sanjeevani’ nabbed four inter-district drug peddlers and recovered 50 grams heroin from their possession.
As per police sources, based on reliable information, a team from Gangyal police station laid a naka and signaled an Eon car bearing registration number PB35-0677 to stop for checking.
On seeing police cops, the driver accelerated the vehicle and escaped from the spot. Stinking something fishy, the cops chased and intercepted the vehicle near some distance from the naka point
During checking, police recovered 50 grams heroin from the possession of four inter-district drug peddlers traveling in the car and arrested them.
The accused have been identified as Darshan Sharma (driver), son of Chajju Ram Sharma and Tanveer Jan Bhat, son of Suleman Bhat, both residents of Hatli Morh, District Kathua, Vikram Singh, son of Jagjit Singh of Simbal Camp and Shahid Sarfraz, son of Mushtaq Ahmed of Billawar, District Kathua.
A case under FIR Number 5/17 under Section 8/21/22 narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Gangyal police station and investigation started to ascertain the source of this consignment.
Police team led by SHO Gangyal Inspector Aejaz Wani made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO South Sachin Gupta and SP South Shaazad Salaria.
