JAMMU, Jan 21: Death of five persons of a family in a tragic road accident at Domana on the intervening night of January 19 and 20 echoed in the Legislative Assembly today with BJP MLA and former Minister Choudhary Sukhnandan demanding action against Star White Company, which had dug the land at the site of mishap but failed to maintain it.
Raising the issue during Question Hour, Sukhnandan said a FIR should be registered against Star White Company for digging the land and then failing to maintain it, leading to the accident and fatal casualties of five members of a family.
BJP MLA from Jammu West Sat Sharma `CA’ regretted that the Government has only announced Rs 50,000 for each victims and demanded the compensation should be raised to Rs 5 lakh per victim.
Sharma said the accident was caused due to negligence of the Agency and, therefore, the Government should compensate the people.
