JAMMU, Sep 15: The 55th Engineers’ Day was celebrated by the Institution of Engineers (India), Jammu Local Centre at its Institutional Complex Jammu.
The programme was attended by large number of engineers from various departments and organizations to commemorate the 161st birth anniversary of the greatest engineer Sir M Visvesvaraya (Bharat Ratna). On the occasion, Shiv Anant Tayal, Managing Director (MD) JPDCL, was the chief guest. He along with Dr Sanjay Khar (Chairman of IEI Jammu Centre) and P K Nanda (former honorary secretary, IEI Jammu Centre) paid rich tributes to Sir M Visvesvaraya.
Further, on the occasion, Er P B Khajuria was honoured by the chief guest with IEI Award for his outstanding services rendered to the engineering profession and to the Institution of Engineers (India). He was presented with a Gold Medal as a mark of respect.
The chief guest also presented R L Sharma Memorial Gold Medal to Er Ajay Kumar Sharma for presenting the Best Technical Paper Rudra Bhagwati, silver medal to Er B L Rawal for presenting 2nd best technical paper and IEI Bronze Medal to Er B L Rawal for presenting 3rd best technical paper during the year 2021 – 22. He also honoured Er P K Nanda, Er B L Rawal, Er Ranjeev Sawhney, Er Vijay Sharma and Er Joy Ganjoo with mementoes for presenting two or more technical papers during the year 2021 – 2022.
Apart from this, first issue of 20th volume of quarterly News Letter of Jammu local centre was also released by the chief guest in presence of Editorial Board comprising of Dr Sanjay Khar, Er Anik Gupta, Er Samir Sharma, Er Sunil Seth, Er Ajay Sharma and Er C P Sharma.
The inaugural session was followed by a technical session which was chaired by Er Vinod Malhotra (former Development Commissioner, Town Planning, Jammu) and in which 5 papers were presented by Er P K Nanda, Er B L Rawal, Er Ranjeev Sawhney, Er Joy Ganjoo and Er Akash Dusgotra on the theme topic “Smart Engineering for a Better World”.
