SRINAGAR: An inquiry has been ordered into non-availability of a doctor at a Sub Centre in north Kashmir district of Kupwara which allegedly led to the death of a pregnant woman.
Meanwhile, the doctor has been suspended.
Minister for Health and Medical Education Bali Bhagat today informed the Legislative Assembly that an inquiry has been initiated in the incident in which a patient died at Karnah in Kupwara.
Making a statement in the House, the Minister informed that a 26-year-old woman, Nasima, died during her delivery two days ago.
He said that the ‘Dai’ (helper) could not handle the patient who was then rushed to nearby Sub Centre/Unani Dispensary.
The Minister further informed that the AYUSH doctor was not present on that day at his duty. He said pending inquiry, the doctor has been placed under suspension. (AGENCIES)
