SRINAGAR, Oct 15: Appreciating the role of JKP in public service, Director General of Police (DGP), K Rajendra Kumar has said that the force, despite facing tough challenges, has succeeded in prevailing a sense of security in the State.
Mr. Rajendra was addressing jawans and officers at a police durbar held at District Police Lines Budgam today. He said that the brave jawans and officers of the force have done exemplary role in professional policing, besides protecting the people and their properties. He said that the force has served the people on the cost of their lives and has proved its bravery at different occasions.
Mr. Rajendra said that public service is the prime duty of JKP, reiterating that safety of human lives and public property would remain among top priorities of the force. He said that with the active cooperation of the people, the force has succeeded in bringing peace in the State and it would be our endeavour to keep the peace maintained at all levels.
Stressing for further improvement in professionalism, the DGP said that the force, besides conducting free and fair elections in the State, had a commendable job in rescue and relief operations during recent floods. He said that the force after rescue operations organized various medical and relief camps in different parts of affected areas providing succour to the sufferers.
On the occasion, Mr. Rajendra announced absorption of 12 SPOs as Constables in the department and promotion of one constable to his next higher rank. He handed over the orders to the beneficiaries on the spot. He said that the performance of the beneficiaries has been adjudged at PHQ level and their promotions cleared by Police Establishment Board. He said that the absorption of SPOs and out of turn of promotion is given as a token of recognition to the personnel whose performance remains exemplary.
Later, the DGP convened a meeting of district police officers to discuss the security scenario, law and order in the district. He said that in the forthcoming elections, JKP has a challenging task to provide security to the contesting candidates and the visiting dignitaries. He asked the officers to initiate preparedness for free and fair elections, ensuring congenial atmosphere and foiling any ill design by the anti-social elements. He said that JKP has a good experience in providing security to the people and maintain the law and order in tough situations which should be utilized to ensure fair elections.
The durbar and meeting was attended by IGP, Kashmir Zone, A. G. Mir, DIG, CKR, Syed Ahfadul Mujtaba, SSP, Budgam, Irshad Ahmed and AIG (Personnel) PHQ, Tahir Sajjad and other district police officers.
