Information Deptt employee among four killed in road accidents

JAMMU, Mar 25: Four persons including an employee of Information Department of J&K Government were killed in separate road accidents in city and its outskirts.
According to a police official, a woman pedestrian namely Naresh Kumari, 54, wife of Ramesh Singh, resident of Ward No 8, RS Pura, was crushed to death by a speeding bus at Bikram Chowk, this morning. He said the mishap occurred at about 10 AM when the woman was crossing the road.
“The woman was working in Information Department of J&K Government as Senior Assistant of Cultural Wing of Jammu Division,” he said, adding that after completion of postmortem at Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, the body of the deceased was handed over to her legal heirs for last rites while a case under relevant Sections was registered at police station Gandhi Nagar. He further informed that the bus involved in the mishap was seized by the police from Jewel area, where from its driver fled after leaving it.
Meanwhile, Information Department Employees Union has condoled the demise of Naresh Kumari and expressed solidarity with the grieved family. The Union members prayed for peace to the departed soul.
Another mishap occurred late last night at Simbal Head under the jurisdiction of police station Miran Sahib, where a load carrier (auto) carrying some people turned turtle. In the mishap, a woman identified as Khursheeda Begum (28) wife of Mohd Shafi, resident of Dablehar (RS Pura) died on the spot while two others namely Rubina daughter of Mohd Aslam and Mushtaq son of Mohd Younis, both residents of Dablehar, received serious injuries.
Both the injured persons and the body of the deceased were shifted to GMCH Jammu, where Rubina also succumbed to her injuries this afternoon. After postmortem, both the dead bodies were handed over to their legal heirs for last rites while Miran Sahib Police had registered a case and started investigations.
Meanwhile, a road accident occurred this afternoon at Bypass Nagrota on the road from TCP to Sidhra, in which a 7-year-old female child namely Mehreen daughter of Mohd Riaz, resident of Bypass Nagrota, died on the spot. She was hit by a speeding Scorpio car while she was crossing the road with some other children. The body of the deceased was shifted to GMCH and after postmortem handed over to her parents for last rites. A case in this connection was registered at police station Nagrota and investigations started.
