Infiltration bid foiled in Uri, 3 soldiers injured

Srinagar, Sept 25: Army today foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in North Kashmir’s Uri sector leading to fierce gun battle in which three soldiers have been injured so far.
A senior security forces official said that a group of infiltrating militants was spotted today and they were engaged leading to a gun battle in which three soldiers were injured so far. The injured have been removed to a medical facility for treatment.
The injured have been identified as Bhalwan Grewal, Sumera Ram and Ravi Rana. They all belonged to 12 JAT Regiment of Army.
Army foiled a major infiltration bid on September 23 by killing three infiltrators. A huge cache of arms and ammunition was recovered from them including five AK-47 rifles, seven pistols, 5 AK magazines, 24 UBGl grenades, 38 Chinese grenades, seven Pakistan made grenades, Rs 35000 Indian and Pakistani currencies and some edibles.
Earlier, on September 18, Army foiled a major infiltration bid in the same sector by pushing back a group of highly armed infiltrators.
Army said that there is spurt in infiltration attempts as Pakistan wants to push in militants into Kashmir ahead of winter which is round the corner.
