UDHAMPUR, Nov 19: In a unique initiative, the Association of Industries Udhampur today started the construction work of road from the funds collected by its members.
The road, on which construction work has been started, links the new National Highway with Battal Ballian Industrial area. The association has hired JCB machine and Road Roller for maintenances of the road.
At the launching of maintenance-cum construction work, owners and managers of different Industrial units and large number of locals were present there.
Speaking on the occasion, the Association executive members, including president Udhayveer Singh, senior vice president Raghuvir Gandotra and vice president S Sukhdev Singh alleged that the supply of electricity, water and road link of this area are in worst condition. “Some roads of this area are not in position that vehicle could ply there and this one from National Highway to Battal Ballian Industrial area is worst among all,” they added.
The members of Association had made several written complaints to SICOP in this regard but nothing was done.
The Association member warned that if the supply of electricity, water and roads conditions are not improved within short period of time, they would not pay any type of rent to the SICOP department in future.
“Chief Minister is appealing the Industrialists outside the State to come here and install units in J&K but on the other hand, those working in this area are in very worst condition,” they lamented.
The Association appealed the State Government as well as district administration to provide proper funds for the development of Udhampur industrial area.
The Association members, present on the occasion, included Arun Khajuria, Pardeep Bakshi, Dr Shekhar, Sanjeev Sharma, Varyam Singh, Vivek Gandotra, Ankush Sondhi, Charanjeet Singh, Darshan Mehra, Mohd Rafi, Vikas Sharma, Bipin Sharma, Gourav Jamwal, Suresh Sharma and others.
