Industrial development least priority for Govt: FoIJ

JAMMU, Sept 8: Federation of Industries Jammu (FoIJ) today lashed on the Government, stating that industrial development is least priority for the State Government, as this sector is passing through a crucial stage due to casual attitude of the Government.
In a statement issued here, chairman, FoIJ, Lalit Mahajan, said that industrial growth is declining day by day due to non availability of Central/State Government’s fiscal incentives due to which very negligible new units have been registered with Industries Department in last three years.
“The position is more serious as many newly opened units are in the process of surrendering the land allotted to them due to non availability of State/Central fiscal incentives. Moreover, MSME/Large scale units are suffering very badly due to delay in the grant of fiscal incentives as approved in the State Budget 2018-19 as the files are rolling between Finance and Industries Department in spite of repeated requests and reminders by FoIJ”, he added.
He said that majority of the Micro and Small Sector Industries, mostly owned by sons of the soils are on the verge of closer due to non availability of requisite fiscal incentives at par with those available in the VAT Regime.
The FoIJ chairman further said that the industrial units have no option but to pay additional freight on the import of raw materials and finished goods due to delay in implementation of Central Government Transport Department Notification dated 16-07-2018 in respect of enhancement in the Safe Axel Load for Commercial Vehicles.
He appealed Governor SP Malik to intervene into the matter and resolve issues of Industrial Sector of J&K by granting State fiscal incentives to the existing as well as new units and take up the matter with the Central Government also for the grant of fiscal incentives to J&K industries at par with the North Eastern States.
