JAMMU, Sept 8: Shri Hari Chaintanya Puri Maharaj who is in city of temples today said that his mission of life is to spread message of love and brotherhood throughout the world and prove that India is the land of love.
Talking to reporters at Press Club, here, today Chaintanya Puri Ji Maharaj, who is on a weeklong visit to Jammu region from September 7 said that his love and concern for the people of Jammu and Kashmir is special. He said that Jammu, the city of Temples is the land of very kind hearted and simple Dogra people.
He said that he is disturbed by the situation which has arisen in the State due to increasing militancy activities.
Chaintanya Ji Maharaj said that the situation in Kashmir is not good and peaceful and appealed the people of Valley to stand with Government to counter militancy, anti national, anti social elements and radical forces for restoration of peace and brotherhood in Kashmir which is a heaven on earth.
Maharaj Ji also said that drug addiction is a poison which is spoiling the generations and it too should be combated jointly. The people have to come forward and join hands with those who are fighting against the drug menace in the society, he added.
Earlier the spiritual Guru was given warm welcome who is on a week long visit to Jammu region. He arrived yesterday and also offered prayers at Bawe Wali Mata temple at Bahu Fort soon after his arrival. In the evening he visited the historical Raghunath Ji temple and offered prayers there.
Maharaj Ji said he is especially concerned for the people of J&K State who are victims of decades long insurgency and turmoil.
During his week long programme the spiritual Guru will also visit border areas and on September 12 and 13, he will be in Jammu and will address a Virat Dharam Samellan at Brahman Sabha here from 3 pm onwards.
During the press conference he appealed the people to spread awareness about the menace of dowry, child marriage, female infanticide, funeral feast, pollution and cow slaughter.
Swami Ji said that one should chant holy name of the Lord in a humble state of mind, thinking oneself lower than the straw in the street. He said one should be more tolerant than a tree, devoid of all senses of false prestige and should be ready to offer all respect to others. In such a state one can chant the holy name of the Lord constantly, he added.
