JAMMU, June 28: Bari Brahmana Industries Association (BBIA) has alleged that due to uncertainty prevailing here, all the industrial activities have been stalled in the region.
An Executive Committee meeting of the members of Bari Brahmana Industries Association was held here today under the presidentship of  Lalit  Mahajan  president, BBIA in presence of  Suresh Mahajan, senior vice president,  Varun Singla vice president,  Ajay Langer general secretary,   Viraaj Malhotra treasurer and members of Executive Committee to discuss the issue in respect of uncertainty prevailing over the implementation of GST from July Ist , 2017 as well as extension of  present State/Central Fiscal  incentives under GST regime for the survival of Industrial sector of J&K.
Members present in the meeting raised their serious concern in respect of delay in the adoption of GST by J&K Govt which has created panic amongst the industrial fraternity  and number of units have already stopped their production activities as well as planning to retrench their work force in near future. It was also decided in the meeting that we have no option but to start the agitation to expose those persons, who are creating hurdles in the implementation of GST in our State from July Ist, 2017.
They pointed out that it is  not possible for the industrial units to continue their Industrial activities after  July Ist, 2017 in case the GST is not adopted by the State Govt as it is not possible to bring raw material from outside the side as well as dispatch of finished goods to other parts of the country due to double taxation and non-availability of the tax credit resulting in total collapse of industrial activities in our State. Therefore,  the industrial units working in our State will have no option but to close down their units as there would not be any difference between the prices of the goods being manufactured in J&K and other parts of the country and the unit holders may shift their units  to the nearest market in the other parts of the country.
BBIA appealed to  Chief Minister Mehooba Mufti, Finance Minister Dr Haseeb  Drabu  and  Chander Parkash, Industries and Commerce Minister to implement GST in our State with effect from  July Ist, 2017.
