He said Pakistan and India will have to reduce their tensions for the sake of their respective people.
The schedule for meeting of the foreign secretaries of the two countries is being worked out by the two capitals. India is prepared to play its role in this regard, he said.
Raghavan did a wonderful job when he was posted in Pakistan twelve years as deputy high commissioner, Beg said.

Meanwhile, Pakistani daily Dawn, in an editorial today, lauded External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj for her role in the resumption of Indo-Pak dialogue.
“Swaraj’s assertion that she believed in the continuation of the dialogue deserves to be welcomed, with the hope that India will not look for an excuse to wriggle out of the commitment,” the editorial said. (PTI)
