JAMMU, Mar 2: Indian Cultural Forum organized a musical programme “Rouns” based on the poetry of a Dogri poet Bishan Singh Dardi at KL Saigal Hall.
Prof Lalit Magotra, president Dogri Sanstha Jammu presided over the programme, while as Prof Veena Gupta was chief guest, Chatterpal Singh, a veteran story writer was guest of honour. Mohan Singh, poet and writer Khalid Hussain were special guests.
In his address, president of Indian Cultural forum, Sham Sajan emphasized that forum has decided to organize such programmes every month and will invite budding singers and musicians to come forward and seek opportunity to perform properly.
The programme started with the devotional lyrics “Us Pappi Us Moorh mati maa too nein Bakshan Haar” sung by Sham Maniyal in raag deshkaar.
Gurusharan Kour sang “Rut Milne Dee Ghar Aa Mahiya, Joban Bhareya Darya Mahiya” in raag paharhee.
“Jobnee Da Inna Naeen Khumar Chaeeda Serukhi Nee Asein Tera Pyaar Chaeeda” this song was sung by Dr Kewal Samnotra in raag sihaagrha.
Sargam pant sang “Ehaar Din Behre Diyan Shaan Sabia, Dhiyan Pardes Turi Jaan Sabia” in raag peeloo.
“Khulle Rakhni Aan Akhiyen De Bhitt Sajna, Meera Ikli Da Lagda Naeen Chitt Sajna, this song was sung by Apoorwa Jamwal in raag kalyan.
Dogri ghazal “Man Chayen Gee Chandiyan Akhiyaan, Sajni Mel Krandiyan Akhiyaan” was sung by Sham Sajan in raag shoopali.
The poetry of Sishan Singh Dardi, was highly appreciated by the audience with thundering applauses.
The singers were accompanied on flute by Rakesh Anand, on mandolin by Sanjay Pashi and on tabla by Karan Malhotra.
The music was directed by singer Sham Sajan.
The programme was anchored by Ravinder Koul, whereas Sunil Sharma presented vote of thanks.
